We noted with interest, Habitat’s recent article touting boom trucks: “A New Way to Cut the Cost of Facade Inspections.” Boom lifts are indeed invaluable for facade inspections, but contrary to the Habitat report, they are not a recent development. SUPERSTRUCTURES has used boom lifts on dozens of projects since 2014. And they reach 200+ feet, not the 100-foot limit mentioned in the article. As long-time specialists in exterior restoration, we use whatever combination of methods is most appropriate for a particular facade investigation – boom lifts, swing staging, rope access, hyper-pixellated photography, and - as soon as they are approved for use in NYC - drones.
