The Department of Buildings recently published a link updating the public on its Façade Inspection Safety Program. At the bottom of the web page, there is an interactive map which shows all of the exterior restoration projects in New York City protected by a sidewalk shed.

While sidewalk sheds may be useful when someone needs to walk their dog in the rain, others in the neighborhood believe sheds shouldn’t be up any longer than necessary. Owners of hotels and commercial buildings with ground-floor retail space hold to this way of thinking as well.
