SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted facade examinations of the exterior of the North and South Waterside Square Towers, a pair of 22-story, brick-clad apartment buildings constructed in the mid-1980s. The firm documented deficient conditions and provided recommendations for their repair. SUPERSTRUCTURES also surveyed, prepared construction details for, and monitored restoration of the building’s concrete eyebrows. The firm also conducted a window study to develop optimal replacement options; several schemes were presented to reflect varying construction budgets and to minimize invasiveness to these fully occupied buildings. The challenge of replacing metal spandrel panels which were integrated into vertical ‘strips’ between windows was resolved.
