Wallkill Correctional Facility

This medium-security prison in Ulster County was designed by Alfred Hopkins and constructed in the early 1930s. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services to restore the exterior of the campus’ 12A – N buildings. Restoration work included: replacement of spalled and deteriorated concrete masonry block; installation of stainless steel veneer wall anchors and horizontal reinforcement; repair of localized precast concrete spalls and injection repair of cracks; removal and replacement of spalled or cracked precast concrete units; and sealing of wall penetrations. The project also included: replacement of window perimeter silicone joint sealant; replacement, power washing, and recoating of damaged EIFS; replacement of facade masonry joint sealant; scraping and painting of rusted lintels, window frames, and sashes; and replacement of broken glass and polycarbonate.
