The building's name is derived from its original function to house steam-driven machinery that powered the city's cable cars. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained by first-floor tenant Crate and Barrel's retail architect to address the storefront facade. Work included a detailed condition survey including probes, the preparation of an historically appropriate design, construction details, cost estimates, and specifications.
