The I.M. Pei-designed Silver Towers is a modern residential complex built in 1964 and designated a New York City Landmark in 2008. The outdoor walkways provide pedestrian and vehicular access between the three 30-story concrete towers and are an integral part of the modernist landscaping. The walkways are comprised of cobblestones pavers, concrete sidewalks, and concrete and cast-iron grates for water drainage around the central grassy area featuring a large-scale replica of a Picasso scultpure. The walkways were in poor condition with sunken and up-heaving cobblestones, concrete flags, and broken grates. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services for resetting sunken elements flush with the surrounding level and replacing broken grates to match the original configuration.
