SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services to restore the roof of this athletic facility built in 1958. The deteriorated concrete plank roof deck was removed and replaced with an acoustical metal deck which offered multiple benefits, including improved acoustical performance and better thermal properties. The design was finished with Soprema Sentinel Copper Art, a PVC thermoplastic membrane material infused with copper to simulate the look of a standing seam copper roof. This product provides the aesthetic qualities of metal combined with the benefits of a flexible, high-performance membrane. It avoids common risks associated with metal roofing at a fraction of the cost of copper sheet. The project also included a new lighting system for the gym.
