The Savoy Manor building occupied in 1997, is the most recent addition to the Hostos campus. SUPERSTRUCTURES surveyed the 18,000 sq. ft. roof and prepared a report summarizing its findings. The roof was found to be deteriorated with blistered, cracked and ‘alligatored’ bitumenous membrane at various locations. The existing roofing system was removed down to the metal deck and replaced with a fluid-applied membrane system topped with a low-maintenance green roof, planted with pre-grown sedum vegetation. Green roofs offer many benefits including conserving energy and increasing the longevity of roofing membranes. The firm provided design and construction administration services.
