Cumberland Diagnostic and Treatment Center at 100 North Portland Street is a community health facility serving north Brooklyn neighborhoods. SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted a FISP Cycle 8A examination of the facility’s two buildings: a six-story steel frame structure clad in brick masonry and a curtain wall, and a three-story solid masonry building. The firm then provided design and construction administration services to remediate various facade deficiencies. Restoration work included: removal and replacement of cracked masonry units; masonry re-pointing; glass block replacement; and parapet replacement or modifications to increase heights. The project also included: removal and replacement of guard rails; removal and replacement of existing steel lintels; and scraping and painting of steel lintels and spandrel beams.
