South Hall on the Bronx Community College campus was built in 1857 by Gustav Schwab. SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted historic research, completed a hands-on investigation and design documents, and is providing construction administration for masonry repairs and the restoration of the roofs and eaves. The investigation required a number of probes to document the timber roof structure and determine the extent of deterioration. Historic research allowed the client to replace the asphalt shingles with a modern insulating product that is historically appropriate to the age and style. Our cost estimate was within 5% of the lowest bid and at the midpoint between the five lowest bidders.
