Completed in 1963, the Big Six Towers were designed by architect Frederick G. Frost. Actually comprising seven towers, the complex was built as housing for members of Typographical Union No. 6 – known in its heyday as Big Six. The development is now Mitchell-Lama cooperative housing. The towers range in height from 15 to 18 stories. SUPERSTRUCTURES conducted Local Law 11 (FISP) Cycle 8 facade inspections of the buildings. Subsequently the firm provided design and construction administration services for the requisite facade repairs. The scope included removal and replacement of cracked masonry units and repair of spalled concrete on exterior balconies.
