SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to investigate reported leaks in Mason Hall, Baruch College’s main auditorium located on the first floor of the 1929 Lawrence and Eris Field Building at 17 Lexington Avenue. Close-range visual inspections were performed in the interior as well as at corresponding locations on the exterior. The investigation also included exploratory probes, water testing, asbestos analysis, materials conservation testing, and non-destructive testing using an electrical impedance meter and infrared thermography. A condition survey and comprehensive assessment for each condition provided recommendations for repair options to reduce existing and future water infiltration, including a cost estimate. The firm prepared design documents to address necessary repairs and provided construction administration.
