SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services to restore the sidewalk vaults of the Manhattan Center. The project scope included: replacement of existing monolithic sidewalk concrete reinforced slab over vaulted space below; replacement of existing steel-faced concrete curb and drop curb at loading dock with new NYC DOT standard steel-faced concrete curb assemblies; installation of new steel framing for new vault roof slab and flashing; installation of new reinforced concrete slab on galvanized composite metal deck for the vault roof slab; and replacement of concrete encased steel beam under the sidewalk and curb and over the vault wall. Work also included partial removal of street pavement along the curb, excavation, and backfill; and installation of new waterproofing membrane between sidewalk topping slab and new vault roof slab and flashing.
