SUPERSTRUCTURES performed a survey, formed an assessment, and provided recommendations to restore three roof areas of LaGuardia Community College’s “E” Building. The resulting report provided an overview of existing roof conditions, verified the scope of proposed replacement work, and provided recommendations for replacement roofing systems with cost estimates. The building’s ballasted, single-ply EPDM membrane system over a sloped concrete roof deck had been compromised by improper installation and inadequately low flashing conditions. Restoration work included removing the existing roofing system down to the concrete deck and installing a new two-ply, SBS system over layers of cover board and flat and tapered polyisocyanurate insulation.
