The Flowerbox Building in the East Village received its name due to the self-irrigating flowerboxes across each living room and master bedroom. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to provide investigation, design and construction administration services. This remedial program addressed the integrity of the tile cladding that was debonding due to improper installation and inconsistent workmanship. The investigation included laboratory tests on representative samples of grout, thin set bedding mortar, cement rendering and surface accretions. Non-destructive testing and evaluation included infrared thermography, water deluge testing and sounding of the entire south elevation.
