It’s official: the DOB has adopted an amended rule governing exterior wall inspections and repairs, strengthening the existing Facade Inspection & Safety Program (FISP). The new FISP cycle—Cycle 9—begins on February 21, 2020. This amended rule is significantly more complex than previous cycles, with more rigorous reporting requirements, an increase in the number of physical examinations ("scaffolding drops"), more robust requirements for inspectors, and stiffer penalties for noncompliance.
