SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation services for the facades of this athletic facility built in 1958. Observed deficiencies included: cracked and spalled concrete columns, eaves, precast window sills, and lintels; cracked foundation walls; cracked and spalled face brick; deteriorated caulking; and missing metal window capping and trim. To remediate these issues, the firm developed a unique detail addressing the badly deteriorated precast sills and designed poured-in-place concrete spandrel restoration. Recommendations also included patching concrete and applying a protective coating, replacing damaged brick masonry, installing new sealant and backer rods, and replacing missing window elements. This project will follow SUPERSTRUCTURES replacement of the gym’s concrete roof deck and membrane using a PVC thermoplastic material infused with copper.
