SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services to restore the roofs of Medgar Evers College’s academic library. Restoration work included: replacement of the roofing membrane system and flashings; addition of perimeter railing extensions to increase height; replacement of brick masonry to install counter flashing; repairs to cracked or spalled brick masonry and repointing; replacement of roof drains in kind; and refurbishment of skylights. The replacement roofing system over the existing sloped concrete deck consisted of three types: 1) polyisocyanurate insulation, cover board, and a two-ply, SBS modified membrane, and 2) a two-ply, liquid-applied membrane, vacuum insulated panels, drainage mat, and concrete pavers. Roof sections with metal deck received a liquid-applied recovery membrane over the existing SBS system.
