Washington Square Hotel, located in historic Greenwich Village, comprises two buildings. The 9-story main hotel, constructed over several phases from 1900 - 1910 in the neo-Renaissance style, features a Roman brick and limestone facade with terra cotta accents over a steel structural frame. The 4-story annex building, constructed in 1917, has a buff brick facade with cast stone, limestone, sandstone, and granite trim. The restoration encompassed exterior wall construction, including replacement of the ornamental sheet metal cornice to replicate the original. Also included were partial chimney reconstruction, stone and terra cotta ornamentation, parapets and copings, and installation of a roof barrier railing. SUPERSTRUCTURES provided investigation, design, and construction administration services.
