Designed for The Nordic Center in America by architect James Stewart Polshek (now Ennead Architects) Scandinavia House opened to the public in 2000. The project manager for the original construction, Denham Wolf Real Estate Services, was called in 2011 to manage a facade rehabilitation and leak remediation project. SUPERSTRUCTURES was retained to investigate existing conditions and issue a report. The firm identified a range of maintenance issues including work on the curtain wall, metal panel wall systems, roof and terrace flashings, stucco and distinctive wood fins that adorn the facade.
